A door rarely jumps the track for no reason. The usual culprits are a broken lift cable, a seized or shattered roller, a track that's been bent — often by a bumper — or an obstruction the door rolled over. Sometimes it's the aftermath of a broken spring letting the door slam down.
That's the important part: the door coming off is usually a symptom, not the disease. Re-seating it without fixing the cause just means it happens again.
1. Secure the door. We stabilize it and release tension safely before anything else.
2. Re-seat and repair. We guide the door back onto the track and straighten bent sections or replace track that's kinked or creased.
3. Find the trigger. We inspect the cables, rollers, and springs to identify what pushed the door off in the first place, and fix that too.
4. Balance and test. We re-tension, check that the door stays put when lifted halfway, and run it through full cycles before we call it done.
How long does it take? A straightforward off-track reset takes about 1–2 hours. Bent track or cable damage can add time.
